Ingrown Hairs

The source of many a sore chin!

Ingrown hairs are when a hair curls back, or grows sideways into the skin. They can sometimes cause an infection in the hair follicle, appearing like a spot. They're most common in areas that are shaven, and are sometimes known as 'razor bumps'.

If you get an ingrown hair, the best treatment is to gently exfoliate the area. This will allow the hair to grow normally above the skin, or give you access to remove it with a pair of tweezers. Treat them gently or they can become very sore.
